Society and Our Children essays Do We Care as a Society about How Well Our Children Are Being Raised Virginia Satir's work, is very encouraging and inspiring not only for a parent to read but for anyone who wants a better understanding of the dynamics of the family in todays society. Mrs. Satirs book The New People Making resists the temptation to merely blame everything on dysfunction between the partners in the parental relationship, and instead looks at the family as a compilation of defective individuals who all have a potential to grow and learn. I especially like her highlighting on the family's strengths and building on those. Anyone can take a look at a family whether it is a nuclear family, single parent family, step family, foster family, cross generational family, and extended families, and come up with what is wrong. However, this does nothing to solve problems and encourage resiliency, which all families need in this unquestionably family hostile culture. This paper will offer an explanation on society, the family and how todays children are being raised and do we as a society care how individuals are being raised? There is no hesitation that children, our young people need assistance to survive and grow effectively, and this statement has been true since the beginning of humankind. They need guidance on the spiritual, emotional, physical and intellectual levels. They need to learn about what works and what does not in their attitudes to and their behaviors in and toward the world. The majority of the human population knows that children need to discover, without too much personal cost, the ways of their family and their society in order to know how to live social lives. At the same time, they need to be assisted to comprehend and value their individuality, their freedom and their responsibilities.
